all forms of nasal irrigation equal?
NO, there are various forms of nasal irrigation or nasal washing most of which use saline - just water & salt - to cleanse the nose. Applying the saline solution has never been easy or pleasant. A wide variety of applicators have been used, but many of these fall under one of two categories – Positive Pressure Irrigation and Negative Pressure Irrigation. Positive Pressure Irrigation uses Lavage Bottles to direct a saline based solution into the nose. Their effectiveness is limited since the saline solution tends to flow over the top of the much of the bio-film in a superficial manner. Negative Pressure Irrigation Neti pots. These require you to pour the saline solution and present similar disadvantages. Both may be helpful in providing temporary relief. RETURN TO TOP
does the SinuPulse work and what
exactly is pulsating nasal
Pulsatile irrigation's gentle pulsating action applies Bernoulli's principle and the Venturi Effect to deliver a cleansing salt-water solution in an easily controlled and effective manner. These principles explain how the upper sinuses drain into the lower sinus creating a siphon effect; when the lower sinus cavities of a patient have been cleared with pulsatile irrigation. The oscillating stream of saline washes away the thick, bio-film and frees your cilia to help you clear your sinuses of infections and foreign substances that can lead to chronic infections. Imagine rain drops falling from the sky landing on the soil with a gentle force that breaks apart soil particles. As this process continues, runoff water travels over the ground, collecting more soil particles dislodged by the rain and transports them to a new location. Pulsatile irrigation mimics a cleansing process present in nature. How is Pulsating Nasal Irrigation different from a neti-pot, bulb syringe, or squeeze bottle?
The SinuPulse Elite® Advanced Sinus Irrigation System uses a gentle pulsing rinse to cleanse and help restore the natural rate of pulsation of the nasal cilia which are the key to protecting your sinuses against foreign bodies. No other form of nasal irrigation does this. It has been reported that pulsating irrigation is up to 100X more effective at removing bacteria. The SinuPulse Elite® not only helps you feel clear and makes breathing easier it addresses the underlying problem of poor functioning cilia the key to long term sinus health. Healthy cilia are the most important element in filtering allergens and preventing sinus infections.
There are many methods of nasal irrigation none as effective or as simple to use as the SinuPulse Elite. Neti pots are messy and uncomfortable to use as they rely on gravity and force the user to be placed in an awkward position, Squeeze bottles, bulb syringes, and neti pots do not pulsate and the rate of flow is neither controlled or sufficient to effectively cleanse the sinuses. In addition, neti pots and squeeze bottle are simply methods for nasal washing they are not an effective irrigation method to help restore the nasal cilia or provide adequate cleansing. The pressure and rate of pulsation is gentle enough that even 5 year olds adjust well to irrigation. RETURN TO TOP

Can I use any saline
product or do I have to use SinuAir?
While most any saline product may be used with the SinuPulse, SinuAir is an enhanced saline formulation for pulsatile nasal irrigation and other nasal wash methods. Much more than simply food grade sodium chloride and baking soda in premeasured packets, SinuAir contains sodium, potassium and calcium salts in a formulation widely reported both effective and gentle for maximum cleansing benefit and helps moisturize and enhance ciliary function. This formulation will appear slightly cloudy which is quite normal. It is a bit more costly to formulate compared to simple food grade salt solutions. However, the gentle soothing formulation and maximum cleansing benefit is an excellent alternative for those sensitive to harsh saline solutions. RETURN TO TOP

the SinuPulse Elite® noisy?
The SinuPulse Elite® noise level is comparable to most standard oral irrigator (water pik type) products. The robust motor and pump assembly has been designed specifically to withstand the corrosive effects of saline. The electronic piston driven pump assembly creates a 1200 pulse per minute intermittent pulsating rinse for maximum cleansing benefit reported so effective at removing bacteria. The high performance motor and piston driven pump assembly have been carefully designed to balance the need for high performance and durability with sound level. Certain bathroom environments and non sound absorbing surfaces and countertops such as granite and tile may increase sound levels. A simple hand towel placed under the unit will help reduce the sound level considerably. RETURN TO TOP
